“Ooh-La-La” 24 X 20 X 1.5

Two white roses in full bloom are nested in a joyous spray of colorful flowers and leaves. This painting is expressive, with almost every color of the rainbow popping out from the pale blue background. And yet, two fluffy white roses help bring a sense of calm (white space!) to this piece.  I love the abstract nature of this painting—it’s fun and fanciful. Currently on display at the STAA Art House for their summer exhibition that opens on White Linen Night in downtown Covington.

The Rose Series

From left to right:  Heartbreaker (10 X 20), Dreamweaver (10 X 20) and Daydreamer (10 X 20). Each gallery depth canvas features layers of sheer color in rich rose paintings that wrap around all edges. They would make a beautiful statement as a grouping, or add beauty as stand-alone pieces for any shelf or wall. The peach, coral, pinks and greens are both vibrant and soft—in person the sheer layers reveal more nuanced color, i.e. plums and lilacs in Daydreamer, duck-egg blues in Dreamweaver, and some of both in Heartbreaker.

“Citrus in the Afternoon 24 X 24 X 1.5

Sheer layers of color create a painting that is both vibrant and soothing. An ivory background allows the transparent shades of yellow, orange, green, and plum to pop. This stunning artwork is painted around all edges of the gallery-depth canvas and features complex color variations that evoke the magical glow of late afternoon sunset.

“Song of Summer 30 X 48 X 1.5

Maybe my most challenging painting to date, I love the abstract nature of this lush garden floral. It reads bold and colorful, but also has a soft and dreamy vibe to it. Just imagine it over a soaking tub. Or above a bed—sweet dreams! And if you are a daydreamer and creator in your office, wouldn’t this give you that “something” to look at!

“Cool Jazz” (Jasmine), 20 X 24 X 1.5

Everyone seems to have fond memories around jasmine blooming in the summer and I love painting the layers of tiny blossoms. This original piece features soft hues: blue, periwinkle, baby pink, pale peach, ivory and white set against deep green vines. Wouldn’t this be sweet in a baby girls nursery or little girl’s bedroom? So many dreams could be dreamt while looking at these pretty little blossoms.

An untamed field of wildflowers is the subject for this abstract floral design with a truly joyful vibe. Rich color—deep orange, rose, plum, and golden yellows—will give your space so much life!

This piece would be a showstopper in a bathroom, bedroom, or even a sunny kitchen nook. The generous size ensures an artwork that will create that “Wow!” when you walk into the room.

Jungalow, 24 X 24 X 1.5

This painting is clearly not for the meek and mild, but would be great for the maximalist who leans toward a modern or bohemian vibe. The bold colors in this painting make it a show-stopper. The artwork continues around all the edges and I should mention that the computer screen makes this look a bit brighter than it is in person.

“Sun Kissed” (Sunflowers)

24 X 36 X 1.5

So many people love a sunflower painting—and this one was created to exude pure joy and happiness. Touches of blue add an unexpected dimension to this piece—and gives what I think feels like a fusion of realism and abstraction. The clean ivory background allows these colors to pop and give an overall modern vide to a very classic subject.

Flowering Tree, 24 X 36 X 1.5

Rich, deep tones against a creamy ivory make this the perfect piece of art for a little added drama. The color variations in this painting include subtle hints of orange and turquoise, and create a vibrancy without being too bright.

Up close and in person, you will orange and turquoise peeking out from these leaves and blooms, along with other subtle, sheer layers—striking! This piece is currently in my home collection.

Light of a Thousand Stars (star jasmine), 36 X 24 X 1.5

So much delicious detail in this artwork! And while this painting “reads” very neutral, upon closer inspection you’ll see that the jasmine petals are painted in many layered shades: grays, periwinkles, jasmine yellows, ivory and white. And you’ll notice there are pinks and magentas that pop through, giving this abstract floral a modern edge.

Field of Dreams, 16 X 40 X 1.5

So this is the kind of painting I love, love, love - to paint and to look at! I’m a fan of pink, so the plums, peaches and pinks make my heart sing. Lots of rich color and variation make this a modern floral you can kind of get lost in! The tall vertical size is great for those tricky narrow walls so many newer homes with big windows have.

I could see this working in so many rooms; it would make a gorgeous statement in a bedroom, bathroom, office, nursery. Currently available at Clayton House Marketplace.

Nesting, 24 X 20 X 1.5

I took one of my hanging ferns down from the front porch and discovered a bird nest in it, with five blue eggs. This was such a delightful surprise - I felt a special kind of blessing, getting to see this image, so I wanted to capture that feeling in this painting. Nature provides the best inspiration! Currently in my home collection.

Under the Oaks, 30 X 48 1.5

This painting speaks to the music, culture, and vibe of New Orleans; it’s been in the Covington “Fall for Art” event and is currently in the artist’s private collection.

Inspired by a true life event, there was a gentleman (yes, wearing a suit!) playing his violin under the oaks on the Lake Pontchartrain lakefront. The sound of music floating through the air and this surprising moment was magical.

This piece looks beautiful near warm wood tones, as it brings out the oranges and plums in the painting.
